RAD-B · Civic movement website
An eleven-page static site for a Beninese civic movement: vision, work areas, team, news, photo and video libraries, membership and support. No CMS, no backend, by design.
RAD-B had an active community and no online existence. Before asking anyone for membership or support, the movement had to be legible as an organisation: its vision, its work areas, the people behind it, what it has already run.
A deliberately static Next.js site: eleven hard-written pages, no CMS, no database, no backend, three runtime dependencies. The choice was deliberate and discussed with the client. RAD-B publishes little and rarely; a CMS would have added application hosting, a maintenance surface and team training for near-zero benefit. The membership, engagement and support pages lay out the process and contact details, and a content update ships through a deploy: a few minutes, against a recurring cost avoided.
RAD-B sits between activism and public policy proposal. The site had to carry both the rigour expected of a think tank and the energy of a movement, which came down to typographic contrast and field photography rather than effects.
This project is also an example of what we do not build. A CMS, a member area and a connected membership form would have been billable and would have been bad advice at this stage of the movement. They will make sense once publishing volume and membership numbers justify them.
